Ways to run Tater

Choose the host that already fits your home.

The macOS app is the quickest native path. The other options run the same TaterOS experience on a server or container you control.

Low

Unraid Community Apps

Install Tater and Redis Stack from Unraid Community Apps with persistent storage for Agent Lab and runtime config.

Best for: Unraid users who want the smoothest packaged deployment.

Low to medium

Home Assistant Add-on

Install Tater through the dedicated Home Assistant add-on repository, with Redis Stack as the required companion service.

Best for: Home Assistant users who want Tater inside the supervisor/add-on workflow.

Medium

Local Source Install

Clone Tater, run the setup script for the right runtime profile, then start TaterOS with the local launcher.

Best for: Developers and operators who want direct source control and local customization.

Medium

Docker Image

Run the published container image with persistent Agent Lab/.runtime volumes, then configure Redis + Hydra in WebUI.

Best for: Operators who want a direct container deployment outside packaged add-on/app-store flows.

Companion apps

Run Tater first, then pair Little Spud.

Little Spud does not replace the Tater server. It pairs to your Tater through Spud Hub and brings chat, voice, Home controls, Music Core, notifications, snapshots, and video clips to your phone or tablet.
