Native Mac app

Tater for macOS

Install the complete Tater server as a native Apple Silicon Mac app with a private runtime, menu bar controls, and automatic updates.

LowApple Silicon
Why choose this

Key points

  • The DMG includes Tater.app and an Applications shortcut for a standard drag-and-drop installation.
  • First launch prepares a private managed runtime under ~/.taterassistant without changing a source checkout or system Python.
  • Closing the main window keeps Tater running in the menu bar, where it can be opened, restarted, updated, inspected, or quit.
  • The native window runs the same TaterOS WebUI and main Tater routes used by the other installation paths.
Install flow

Steps

  1. Download the latest Tater DMG for macOS.
  2. Open the DMG and drag Tater.app into Applications.
  3. Open Tater from Applications and allow the first launch to prepare its private Python 3.11 runtime and environment.
  4. Finish Redis, model, voice, integration, and Core setup in the TaterOS WebUI.
  5. Use the Tater menu bar item to reopen the app, view logs, restart Tater, check for updates, or quit.
Important notes
  • The native app currently requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 15.0 or newer.
  • App data, downloaded models, Cores, Verbas, integrations, settings, logs, and updates stay under ~/.taterassistant.
  • Use the DMG for a first installation. Existing supported app versions can install later releases from the built-in updater.
